India’s well-known theater artist and director is celebrating his 68th birthday today i.e. on 29 May. Let us tell you that Pankaj was born in 1954 in Ludhiana, Punjab. First marriage at the age of 21: Pankaj Kapur had his first marriage with Neelima Azim at the age of 21. Pankaj and Neelima first met when he worked in theater and Neelima wanted to make a name for herself in the dance world. Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima became good friends in the first meeting itself and gradually this friendship turned into love and both decided to get married. Pankaj Kapur married Nilima in the year 1975. At that time Neelima was only 16 years old.
Divorced after 9 years: Neelima and Pankaj divorced each other after 9 years of marriage in 1984, when Neelima Azim and Pankaj Kapur separated from each other, Shahid Kapoor was only three and a half years old at the time. Neelima single-handedly raised Shahid Kapoor. Neelima had left Pankaj Kapoor and started living in Delhi.
Supriya Pathak Mein Humsafar: Pankaj met Supriya Pathak in 1986 during the shooting of the film ‘Mausam’ after his divorce from his first wife. The film was never released, although it changed their lives forever. Like Pankaj, Supriya was also trying to recover from her failed marriage and after 4 years of divorce, the actor married Supriya Pathak.
Has received National Award thrice: Pankaj Kapur was awarded the National Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1989 for the Aamir Khan starrer film ‘Raakh’ for the best acting. Pankaj played the role of Inspector PK in this film. He got the second award for the film ‘Doctor Ki Maut’ in 1990. Not only this, his performance in Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Roja’, which came in 1992, was also highly appreciated. The film ‘Dus’ also received the Filmfare Award for Best Negative Role.
