Chennai, July 12 (IANS)| Tamil star Suriya’s 2020 hit ‘Soorarai Pottru’ will be remade in Hindi. It will be directed by Sudha Kongara, who directed the Tamil original film. ‘Soorarai Potru’ is the story of Nedumaran Rajangam and Mara, played by Suriya. In this, the common man is provided the facility to fly and in the process, with the help of his family, friends and sheer will power, he takes up the world’s most capital industry.

From the moment I first heard this story, I thought it should be a pan-India film, because it had such a soul. We are delighted to partner with Abudantia Entertainment, who have created quality content, to tell the inspiring story of Captain Gopinath in Hindi.
Adding to this, Captain GR Gopinath, Founder, Air Deccan says, “I am overwhelmed with the response to ‘Soorarai Potru’ and now eagerly await the Hindi adaptation of the film.”The Tamil film was one of ten Indian films to be screened in the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards and has also been sent to the 93rd Academy Awards. While the cast of the Hindi film is yet to be decided, the remake will be backed by Suriya and Vikram Malhotra.
Sudha, who is currently working with a group of writers to script the Hindi adaptation, says that I was immediately drawn to the story of ‘Soorarai Pottru’, a daring, temperamental and inspiring entrepreneur, Captain Gopinath. The story is the epitome of New India in the nineties. I am grateful for all the love I have received so far and look forward to telling this unique and wonderful story in Hindi.
