Political turmoil continues over Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’. There are two sides divided in the country regarding the story of the film. Ashok Pandit expressed the pain of Kashmiri Pandits: He said that from the year 1986 till today, if a Kashmiri Pandit was killed, a Kashmiri Pandit was raped, a temple of a Kashmiri Pandit was demolished, that was only and only because he was a Hindu. Kashmiri Pandits never killed anyone, never attacked anyone. So why have we been killed? Ashok Pandit further said that we have been killed in the name of religion. We were tortured. Even today those people do not want Kashmiri Pandits to go back there.
Let us tell you that this film is based on the exodus of minority Hindu Pandits from Kashmir and their plight. The film depicts how Hindu Pandits were driven out of the Kashmir Valley of the 1990s. Controversy regarding the film: The film was embroiled in controversies even before its release. A petition was also filed for a stay on the film’s story. Vivek Agnihotri has prepared this film by making it in a very low budget. In which apart from Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, there are also many small actors. But the film has earned many times more than its cost. The film has earned 235.85 crores at the Indian box office within 25 days of its release.
In view of the plot of the film, it was made tax free in many states. However, there was a lot of ruckus in Delhi regarding this film. The Chief Minister of Delhi even refused to make the film tax free. Along with this, he also made fun of calling the film a liar. After which he also had to face the anger of the public.
At the same time, many Bollywood actors have praised this film. Filmmaker Karan Johar has also praised Kashmir Files openly. He says that this is not a film but a movement. New directors should learn a lot from this.
