The recently released documentary ‘The Roshans’ was shown how Rakesh Roshan faced a difficult time as a director and now, his daughter Sunaina Roshan also spoke on Rakesh Roshan’s struggles and told how he was ready to stake everything for his son Hrithik Roshan’s Bollywood debut.

When Rakesh Roshan’s life became gambling game

In an interview with , Sunaina Roshan spoke openly about his father’s economic problem as a director and producer. He said, ‘We were very young to understand this at the time, especially when Dad started his acting career. As a creator, he said that he had pledged his house, car and office twice during Khudgarj. He gambled a lot with his life, but he was fearless to do so. Sunaina Roshan further explained how despite many difficulties, his father never brought his work home. ‘We never knew his side because he never showed us what round we are going through. My and my brother’s childhood is spent very well. We never got a chance to talk to people about our troubles because the time was very different. Thankfully there was no social media at that time.

Pledged home to make son a hero

Both Hrithik Roshan and his father Rakesh Roshan have also spoken openly about their economic problem. Rakesh Roshan once said with mid-day, ‘Hrithik never came to know, I never told him. Only my wife knew about this. I said that I am mortgaging the house, I will probably take money if needed, otherwise I will work in some way. But, it happened that I worked with the money lying with me. If the film did not go well then I would have to shift elsewhere. In the documentary ‘The Roshans’, Hrithik Roshan also told about the poignant time when he came to know what his family had put at stake for him.

Father’s decision made Hrithik Roshan a superstar

Hrithik Roshan made her Bollywood debut in 2000 with ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’. Directed, written and produced by Rakesh Roshan, the budget of this film was Rs 10 crore. After the release, the film became so superhit that it earned Rs 80 crore at the box office and made Hrithik Roshan an overnight star. Rakesh Roshan bets on his only son and finally after years Hrithik Roshan established himself as a superstar.
