Films to be screened at the ‘Cannes Film Market’ include ‘La Musk’, the directorial debut of two-time Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will celebrate his birthday for the 7th time this year at Cannes 2022. Rahman’s two films to be screened at Cannes Film Festival
Several Indian films will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival over the next one week. This time India is the co-host of the festival as the ‘Country of Honour’. Among the films to be screened at the ‘Cannes Film Market’, two-time Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s directorial debut ‘La Musk’ is included. The film will be screened under the ‘XR’ programme. Based on the ideas of Rahman’s wife Saira, the film uses techniques like ‘haptics’. “I am in the market,” Rahman joked outside the India Pavilion at the festival’s ‘International Village’.
The story of the 36-minute English-language film ‘La Musk’ is based on the life of a musician woman. Complex technology has been used in the making of the film so it took more than five years to complete. Actress and singer Nora Arnejder played the lead role in the film. One has to sit on specially made chairs to watch this film. It was envisioned as a 75-minute film, but was cut in half due to technical reasons.
This year ‘Cannes Film Market’ is also showing Tamil film ‘Irawin Nijhal’, whose music was composed by Rahman. Apart from Rahman’s film, six films representing India and selected by the Ministry of Information and Technology, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, ‘Godavari’, ‘Alpha Beta Gama’, ‘Bomba Ride’, ‘Dhuine’ and ‘ ‘Tree Full of Parrots’ will also be screened at the Cannes Festival.
