Vipul has co-directed the new web series ‘Human’
New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) | Filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who has co-directed the web series ‘Human’, talks about the fading star culture in Hindi cinema courtesy the digital space. He says that OTT will continue to make its own stars. Shah told IANS, “I personally feel that OTT has its stars and OTT will continue to create its own stars. There are a lot of talent not only in India but also abroad who are pure OTT stars and when they are on any show. People are very curious to watch these shows.”
The filmmaker has directed films like ‘Aankhen’, ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time’ and ‘Namaste London’ among many others. He has also bankrolled films like ‘Singh is King’, ‘Force’ franchise and ‘Holiday: A Soldier is never off duty’ among others. The filmmaker, who is married to actress Shefali Shah, reveals what will change with the ever-expanding world of digital platforms.
He added that “however, what will eventually change is the typical star system that we have experienced in India for a long time. I don’t think people will stop loving big stars, but new stars have emerged.” The filmmaker said, “People will love people and they will make new stars but the way the entire star system is dealt with is something that I think will change with the emergence of OTT.”
