According to the report published in DNA, when the casting was going on for the film, Firoz Khan wanted Shahrukh Khan to play the role of Vicky Malhotra but Firoz Khan’s assistant refused to narrate the script to him, after which King Khan made the offer. After Shahrukh Khan, the film was also offered to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan but both of them rejected it. After this, Vicky Arora played the character of Vicky Malhotra in ‘Yalgaar’ and started his career. According to media reports, Firoz Khan had approached Amitabh Bachchan for the role of his elder brother in the film, but he also flatly refused.

Despite clashing with Ajay Devgan’s ‘Jigar’, the film ‘Yalgaar’ was a hit overseas, but flopped in India. This film received mixed reviews from critics, but the acting of Sanjay Dutt and Nagma was highly discussed. The songs and action sequences of the film were highly praised. The film, made for Rs 3 crore, did a business of Rs 7 crore worldwide. ‘Yalgaar’ proved to be the 9th highest grossing film of the year 1992.
