Mumbai, July 28 (IANS)| In a major setback, a Mumbai court on Wednesday denied bail to businessman Raj Kundra in the porn case. Kundra and his aide Ryan Thorpe were denied bail by a court in a case related to the alleged production and distribution of porn films.Accordingly, Kundra – who was arrested by the Mumbai Police on July 19 – will remain in judicial custody till August 10. On Tuesday, the court had given a verdict to send him to judicial custody till August 10.
Kundra, through senior advocate Abad Ponda, has filed a separate petition in the Bombay High Court challenging his arrest. Kundra, through his petition, has termed his arrest as illegal and sought quashing of all orders of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court. However, on Tuesday, Justice A. s. Gadkari had refused to grant any interim relief before hearing the police side in the matter and posted the next hearing for Thursday (July 29).
Kundra is the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and last week police raided her Juhu home and recorded her statement. This case has taken the entire Bollywood by surprise, as it is a sensitive matter like porn, in which the husband of millionaire businessman and Bollywood actress, dancer and Shilpa Shetty, who teaches yoga to people to stay fit, is surrounded.
