New Delhi: Before playing the role of a villain in Pushpa, Fahadh Faasil, one of the most popular actors of the South, was hardly known to the people of the Hindi belt, but now he does not need any recognition. Now his acting has been recognized by everyone and he is known for his brilliant roles in films like Super Deluxe, Pushpa: The Rise, Vikram and Mamnan. Enjoying the huge success of his recent gangster comedy Aavesham, Fahadh shared his perspective on why he continues to play supporting roles in films in other languages instead of focusing on lead roles in Malayalam cinema. During the same time he also mentioned Aamir Khan and Dilip Kumar.
Why is Fahadh Faasil interested in doing films in other languages?
During a conversation with Galata Plus, he said, ‘My intention of going there is not to do Baasha (1995) or Thevar Magan (1992). This is pure talent collaboration. I just want to go there, chat with them, ask questions about how they shot certain scenes in some of my favorite movies. The actor further says, ‘I have no idea of deadlines, I neither start nor finish things on time. And, none of this is pre-planned. I’m just doing things I’m excited about.
As long as you think about me in the theater and not at the dining table.
Fahadh Faasil said, ‘I always tell this to my audience, my commitment to them is only that I will try to make the film worth watching. I don’t want them to think otherwise about me, or to worry about what I’m doing with my life. Don’t take me seriously after leaving the theater and think about me only when you are in the theater. I don’t want people to take the discussion on actors or performances to their dining tables. Just discuss it at the theater or maybe during the drive back home.’ Fahadh says that ‘cinema is not beyond that; There is a limit to this. You can do a lot more in your life than watching movies. Now let him come up with something else,’ this kind of approach sounds more beautiful, doesn’t it? Why think about him (Fahadh) more than that? Fahadh Faasil further admitted that he has reservations about religion in his films, saying that Malayalam audiences are not ready for the ‘harsh reality’.
Fahadh likes Aamir Khan and Dilip Kumar
The actor says, ‘Aamir Khan used to do this even in the 2000s. He disappeared after Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai and came back with Mangal Pandey: The Rising and disappeared again. I have heard that Dilip Kumar Sahab used to do this. I like that. I don’t want anyone to talk about me or celebrate me. Just watch my films and that too only if it is good and if it is not good then don’t watch it. Talking about the upcoming work front, Fah is currently preparing for the release of director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, in which he will reprise his role from Pushpa: The Rise as the main antagonist. This film will hit the screens on 15 August 2024.
