New Delhi. Veteran actor Makarand Deshpande’s upcoming film is ‘Razakar: The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad’. In this he plays the role of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the Nizam of Hyderabad. In the film, the Nizam is shown as a tyrannical ruler immediately after the independence of the country, whose wish is not to allow Hyderabad to merge with India. For his sake, during his reign, the Razakars had inflicted atrocities on the people and massacred the Hindus.
‘Razakar’ is a Persian word which means volunteer. Raj Arjun has played the role of the chief of Razakars in the film. The makers claim that as a Razakar, he had a free hand from the Nizam to carry out atrocities. According to Makrand, ‘The film has a story which shows the cruel reality. If seen, history has always been a witness to such cruelties. The history of most countries has been bloody.
Makrand Deshpande further says, ‘If we look at science, its technology was initially used for war. Later it was used in energy. For example, when the atom bomb was made, it was first used in war, then later it was used to generate energy. In our film too, cruel incidents took place due to war, survival and religion, but the massacre of only Hindus is not shown in the film.
The story will be interesting from the second half of the film
According to the actor, the hands of Muslims were also shown being cut off in the film, if they were against the Razakars, then this is not a film against any religion. Makrand claims that in the first half of the film the story may seem anti-Muslim, but in the second half it will seem that the story is about tyrants who have no religion.
