Mumbai,(IANS)| Actress Mrunal Thakur and director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra have opened up about the boxing drama ‘Toofan’ which stars Farhan Akhtar in lead roles along with Mrunal and Paresh Rawal. The film will have its world television premiere and director Mehra talks about doing the film and the relevance of such sports-based films.
Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra said “Toofan” is a fictional work, it takes real life, real people and real struggles and a lot of inspiration that I have seen and heard about. Also, boxing is a sport where you don’t have to lose. You have to stand till the end.”He further added, “We have shot the film completely in real locations in Mumbai to make the viewing experience of the film authentic. It was a unique shooting experience.”
Mrunal, who plays the role of Doctor ‘Ananya Prabhu’ in the film, spoke about her role and revealed the driving force behind boxer ‘Aziz Ali’ played by Farhan Akhtar.He said, “My love for working in ‘Toofan’ was driven by my enthusiasm to work with an in-demand director like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. In our first meeting, he wanted to assess my strength for the character of Ananya. Tried it. His (Farhan) character is really positive, courageous and bold – someone who constantly inspires ‘Aziz’ to move forward.”The world television premiere of ‘Toofan’ will take place on October 31 on Zee Cinema.
