Bollywood is shocked by the stellar performance of South films. In the last few months, the way South films have become dominant, English films have proved to be pale in front of them. Be it ‘Pushpa’, ‘RRR’ or ‘KGF Chapter 2’, all the films have earned record breaking earnings. Till now many Bollywood actors have put forth their stand as to why South’s films are earning a lot. Now on this ‘Fukrey’ fame actress Richa Chadha has targeted the film distributors and said that they keep the ticket price of the cinema hall arbitrarily, which is bound to affect the number of viewers.
South movies maths right
Richa said that obviously cinema will have to suffer because of the film distributors. Talking to The Indian Express, Richa said that the local filmmakers and distributors have got their maths right. She says, “His maths is correct in terms of numbers and ticket prices. This is the reason why Master’s opening numbers come up as a dedicated fan club of megastars from the South come out and watch the film.
Anger erupted on distributors
Richa further said, ‘Unlike the film industry and its greedy film distributors, there they keep tickets for Rs 100 to 400, even if the film is a hit, but here there are tickets above 400, then the number (of audience) decreases. Will be The spectator will also have to pay for food and drink. Obviously cinema will suffer. It has more to do with distribution.
‘Change is difficult right now’
On controlling the ticket prices, Richa said, “I don’t see this happening here unless forced to do so.” Recently a film was released which I am sure will soon hit OTT with its lead actors in the air. And when the first day’s collection came, it was less than a third of Hero’s charge. If so, how will your math work? Those are the real questions one has to ask and work from there. Big stakeholders in the business should take responsibility if it keeps cinema alive.
