Madhuri Dixit wore a 16 kg lehenga
It would not be wrong to say that Madhuri Dixit has worn the most expensive clothes in this film. He wore clothes designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla in the film. At that time, the cost of these luxurious clothes of his was about 15 lakh rupees. Madhuri wore a lehenga of 30 kilos in her song ‘Kahe Ched Ched Mohe’ in the film. But her lehenga was so heavy that she was unable to dance in it. Later, Sanjay Leela Bhansali changed her lehenga and got a ghagra of 16 forts made for her. Madhuri Dixit also wore a 10 kg outfit in the film, which took almost 2 months to prepare.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s spending on this film was of great help to him. Because when this film was released in the year 2002, it became the highest-grossing film of that year at the box-office. The film earned Rs 41.66 crore at the Indian box-office. During that time this record was the biggest. The film earned an overall of 99.88 crores, that is, in terms of earnings, the film had joined the 100 crore club. At that time it was not an easy thing to join the 100 crore club. The film also had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The music rights of the film were sold for Rs 12.5 crore.
600 sarees came for Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya, who became Paro, wore such beautiful saris in this film, after seeing which one could not take her eyes off her. Like Madhuri, Sanjay Leela Bhansali worked hard on Aishwarya Rai’s look too. In the film, Aishwarya wore clothes designed by Neeta Lulla. Sanjay Leela Bhansali made many trips to Kolkata to buy the best saree for Aishwarya Rai. Sanjay Leela Bhansali brought 600 saris for Aishwarya, not 100-200 from there. Out of these saris, Aishwarya was given a beautiful look.
Chandramukhi’s kotha built in 12 crores
The set of Devdas was so luxurious that seeing it, everyone’s eyes were wide open. It took about seven to nine months to complete this set. Madhuri Dixit played the role of Chandramukhi in the film. You will be surprised to know that not Paro’s house but Chandramukhi’s kotha was the most expensive part of the film. It took about 12 crores to make Chandramukhi’s kotha. Whereas Paro’s house was made of stained glass. It used to rain many times during the shooting, due to which he had to paint again and again. Due to which a lot of money was spent on the artisans. It took about Rs 3 crore to prepare Paro’s house.

42 generators were used on the set
In earlier times 2 or 3 generators were used in films. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s style is different. He used different types of lights in his film, due to which a lot of power was needed. 42 generators were used on the sets of the film. Around 700 lightmen worked for the film and cinematographer Binod Pradhan used 2500 lights for the stunning visuals.
