Now shares screen space with the aspiring actor who is now multiple National Award winning actor Manoj Bajpayee.
Sakshi told IANS, “Working with Manoj sir was very special and emotional for me. I was in Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College where we were doing a street play and Manoj sir directed that play. It was like 30 years ago, I was a student, he moved to Mumbai soon after and when ‘Satya’ released, it was like for me- ‘I know him, he is my first director, I will meet him when I I will become an actress’.
“It was strange that ever since I started working as an actress in Mumbai, I never met her properly and of course, never worked together. But it was on my wish list that I was Manoj work with sir or at least meet him as an actress as i was a student at that time with dreams of becoming an actress. i wanted to meet him once and say ‘sir, you remember me, I was the student you directed for a street play!”‘
Now that Sakshi is one of the leading names in the acting field, she only counts her blessings and feels lucky to work with Manoj in an important film like ‘Dial 100’. Sakshi, who is known for several TV series including ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’ and ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ etc., said, “Feeling really lucky on this one, yes it took me 30 years, but I am like Manoj sir. Sharing screen space with the iconic actor and meeting him in the capacity of an actress.” In the film, she is playing the role of Nikhil Sood’s wife played by Manoj. Neena Gupta is also playing the role of one of the lead characters in the film titled Seema Pallava.
Sakshi said, “I have maximum scenes and they are all very important, with Neenaji. In the film, there are very tense moments between these two characters. Off-camera, it was the exact opposite! Once the director says ‘cut’ ‘, we’ll just relax. I talk a lot and Nina used to welcome that idea a lot, so whenever we got time, we’d have a lot to talk about! We laughed, laughed and the more I told Nina ji Dekha closer, the more I admired her. It was also the first film that I shot post the lockdown, which really gave me a sense of normalcy that otherwise I was stuck in a confined space. I would say that Doing the film has completed many of my own tasks! I am very happy!” Produced by Sony Pictures Films India, directed by Rensil D’Silva, ‘Dial 100’ will release on ZEE5 on August 6.
