Mumbai, October 5 (IANS)| National Award winning filmmaker Shalini Shah is all set to release her feature film ‘Samosa and Sons’ on the OTT platform. The film stars actors like Sanjay Mishra and Brijendra Kala, Neha Garg, Jitu Shastri, Meera Suyal, Rachna Bisht, Minal Sah. The film has been shot during the pandemic keeping in mind all the covid protocols.
Speaking about the film, Sanjay Mishra said, “Last year we were all in the midst of a pandemic and the situation was very serious at that time. We didn’t know what would happen in the future, slowly and steadily things started getting streamlined. God We have shot for a beautiful film named ‘Samosa & Sons’, by the grace of her, not only is the film shot beautifully but we all put in a lot of hard work on it.”
The film throws light on the issues facing the Indian society and gives a thoughtful message that no matter how modern you are in your thoughts, there are certain things that bind you. Film director Shalini Shah while talking about the film said, “Lightweight and entertaining, ‘Samosa & Sons’ is a satire on the hypocrisy of our society, which tries to hide the desire of a son, but fails. ” The film has been written by Deepak Thiruva.
Shalini has won the National Award for her documentary ‘From the Land of Buddhism to the Land of Buddha’. Talking about Sanjay Mishra’s acting skills, Shalini said, “Bhoot ka part is comical and there is no better option than Sanjay Mishra.” Set in a beautiful hill town in Uttarakhand, the film traces the life of Chandan Koranga (Chandan Bisht), a humble samosa shop owner. Every night, Chandan sees his dead father’s ghost (Sanjay Mishra) brainwashing him into desperately wanting a son. The father of a seven-year-old girl, Chandan is afraid to share the wishes of his father’s ghost with his progressive wife Dhvani. Will Chandan realize that this is not a ghost, but his own subconscious bound by years of patriarchy that dominates his thoughts and actions?
