Actress Kangana Ranaut, referring to MeToo in her show Lockup, said that sexual abuse of youth in Bollywood and the fashion industry is not surprising. “No matter how much we defend this industry, it is true. It gives a lot of opportunities or even breaks many dreams. Scares people permanently. This is the dark truth of the industry.”
People take sexual abuse lightly in Bollywood: Kangana spoke after the lockup show’s contestant Saisha Shinde told her. Kangana told that she was explored by a leading fashion designer. According to Kangana, it may be a case of sexual abuse in all industries, but people in the film industry gossip about the victim and take it lightly.
“…I was banned for supporting”: Kangana further said, ‘Even when MeToo happened here (Bollywood), what happened to him? Nothing. Those girls who came out, they are all missing, everyone is missing and I was banned from the industry for the ones I supported. I was banned from the industry but the women I supported have vanished today.”
Let us tell you that here Kangana was referring to victims like actress Payal Ghosh, who had leveled sexual harassment allegations against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in the year 2020. Kangana publicly extended her support to Payal.
Let us tell you that Kangana’s film ‘Dhaakad’ is going to be released in theatres. Earlier this film was to release on 8th April, but now its release date has been extended. This film of Kangana will now be released in theaters on 20 May 2022. Directed by Rajneesh Ghai, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta in lead roles.
