New Delhi, (IANS)| Actor Shreyas Talpade feels that both cinema halls and OTTs have their own unique niche and they will not dominate each other. He said, “Everything has its place. Movie theater has its own magic. It is a kind of festival for people on weekends to watch movies with family. People like to watch movies in theaters and continue to watch. The theaters need to be open and there should be some kind of normalcy in terms of entertainment which is never going to die.”
Shreyas told IANS, “I think OTT is something that people are getting used to simultaneously. It has become a matter of habit now. Will the magic of OTT work as soon as theaters open? Similar things when TV Back then there were VCDs, CDs and DVDs and now the latest is OTT.” The actor introduced his OTT platform on performing arts sometime back under the name ‘Nine Raas’. Their app creates plays, skits, dance and music and other performing arts for the digital space.
He said that, “OTT is definitely an addiction. You will not watch movie theater or TV for 24 hours. But it is your phone that will be with you 24 hours anyhow. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic situation, we We have become lonely in a way. While earlier we used to socialize, it is not happening regularly. That’s why we want entertainment. Then we are glued to our phones. We start watching web series. We do a season one Let’s finish it and look forward to the next season.”
The actor shared his vision on what makes every OTT platform a success in today’s time. He told IANS, “Why do you think there are so many OTT platforms and they are all doing well? It’s because when you have content, you binge watch it, finish it and move on to the next.” Go away. This is where OTT is scoring well. Because Millennials are connected to their phone sets, they just want to watch more content.”
Talking about phone addiction in today’s age and time, he said, “We have gone to such an extent that every day everyone is constantly checking their phones. We keep checking if any messages come. What’s new on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. We check our phones for something new every five minutes. People are still looking for some content on their phones. All the content clicks with someone or something. Is.”
The actor shared that, he has been offered some OTT projects, however, he is still considering them. Shreyas said, however, the ‘Golmaal’ actor has a plethora of upcoming big-screen releases in his kitty. “The shooting of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal 5’ was planned for this year but has been pushed due to the pandemic.
