Mumbai,(IANS)| Recently Mithali Raj has been awarded the Khel Ratna Award, on which Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has expressed her happiness. Mithali Major Dhyan Chand is the first Indian woman cricketer to receive the Khel Ratna Award.Taapsee will be seen essaying the role of Mithali Raj, who has the distinction of scoring the most ODI runs in women’s cricket, in the ‘Shabash Mithu’ biopic directed by Srijit Mukherji.
Posting a video of President Ram Nath Kovind paying respects to the captain of the women’s cricket team, Taapsee tweeted, “Just hearing her praise I think she really deserves a series, not a film “The actress has completed shooting for ‘Shabash Mithu’. Taapsee also posted a photo from the film.Along with the picture, he wrote the caption, It was 8 years old when someone had a dream that a day will come when cricket will not be just a gentleman’s game. We will also have a team, an identity. Women in Blue is coming. Get ready to get excited for the World Cup 2022.
With the next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held in New Zealand in March-April 2022, and with India aiming to make the final (and win the trophy) for the third time under Raj’s captaincy, the biopic will be released at a more opportune time.
