The Kashmir Files Release. The film ‘The Kashmir Files’, made on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir insurgency, has been released on 11 March i.e. today. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher as lead actors. The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal. Mithun Chakraborty is playing the role of an IAS officer in the film and Anupam Kher is playing the role of Kashmiri Pandit. The writer of the film, Agnihotri has written the story in a deep and very harsh manner, which tries to uncover the dark reality of the bygone era. The film had a special premiere on 4 March 2022, but some scenes in the film were objected to by a widow of the Indian Armed Forces and the matter went to court. Due to which the release of the film was put on hold. But now after the order of the court, the film has been released after removing some controversial scenes.
Film based on exodus of Kashmiri Pandits
The theme of the film is the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, which took place in the late 80s and early 90s. Author Vivek Agnihotri claims to have interviewed more than 700 migrants from the exodus and recorded their stories over two years.
The first look poster was released in 2019
Significantly, in 2019, director Vivek Agnihotri, while announcing the film with the first look poster, said that the film will be one of the biggest human tragedies. The film was scheduled to release on January 26 this year but due to the third wave of corona spread due to Omicron variants, the film’s release was postponed.
