Mumbai. ‘Wagle Ki Duniya: Nayi Generation Naye Kisse’ actors Sumeet Raghavan, Bharti Achrekar and Chinmayi Salvi spoke openly about the traditions and experiences related to Gudi Padwa. Sumeet, who plays the role of Rajesh Wagle in the show, said that we traditionally enjoy Shrikhand Puri on this day. This festival has great importance for us.
It brings happiness. Marathi culture flourishes in the area where I live. The traditional procession and the rhythmic beat of drums enhances the festive spirit. Bharti, who played the role of Radhika Wagle in the show, said that in childhood we used to celebrate Gudi Padwa with great enthusiasm. This day holds great importance for us and is considered very auspicious. When I was young, my grandmother used to make a nutritious dish called ‘Kadunim ki Chutney’.
Improves health throughout the year
It was believed that if it is consumed on Gudi Padwa, it maintains good health throughout the year. We also make Puran Poli and enjoy it together. Chinmayi, who played the role of Sakhi, said that Gudi Padwa is a beloved festival where families come together to make beautiful Gudis at their homes and worship them. Gudi is a symbol of protection from negative energies and welcoming prosperity into our lives.
My favorite food on this auspicious day is Aamras Puri and Shrikhand. He said that the festival starts with the decoration of the Gudi and bathing by adding neem leaves in water, which is called purification. I remember wearing Nauwari sarees, participating in processions in my neighborhood and performing Kathak at Gudi Padwa programs during my college days. Chinmayi said that time spent with family, enjoying good food and the arrival of the New Year are my best memories. ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ airs on Sony SAB.
