Mithun Chakraborty was born on 16 June 1950 in Calcutta. In his early life, he focused on studies and writing. and graduated with a BSc qualification from the renowned Scottish Church College. He then joined the Indian Film and Television Institute, Pune.
Mithun Chakraborty made his debut in 1976 with the film ‘Mrigaya’. The film received critical acclaim. He was given the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Mrigaya. But before coming to films, he was also associated with activities like Naxalism.
Let us tell you that before entering the Mithun industry, he had become an active member of a Naxalite gang called Da Naxalite Andolan. Significantly, Mithun Chakraborty was inspired by Charu Mazumdar. Those who were starting the Naxalite movement in those days. Seeing these, Mithun had also joined the Naxalite activities.
Mithun also became a part of violent action with Naxalites many times. During similar activities, Mithun was chased away by the police. Although Mithun was not caught by the police, but he had to stay underground for several days. He along with his companions roamed in hiding for several months. Senior journalist Rashid Kidbai also confirms this in one of his books.
When Mithun was associated with Naxalite organizations, during this time his only brother died due to electrocution. Which hurt Mithun deeply. After this incident, he understood that the path of Naxalism is one way. It ends only with death.
After this Mithun left this path. And entered Bollywood by taking training like martial arts. After the success of the first film, he became a popular face.
Apart from action, he also gained fame as a dancer. Mithun also became famous in the house with the title song of his 1982 film Disco Dancer.
