Was not happy with the role of mother: In an old interview, Asha had told that she was approached for the role of mother in a film. Which she was not happy with. Recalling that time, the actress said that male actors were given more importance in the industry. His co-stars used to reach the sets in the evening for the morning shoots. Which troubled them.
Talking about actor Amitabh Bachchan, Asha said that she was cast as the lead character in the second innings of her career, while Asha was not given such an opportunity.
She did her mother’s role: In a conversation with PTI, Asha had told, “In the second phase of my career, I started getting less work. People started approaching me for the role of mother. I also played that character in a few films, but I was not happy with it. I felt that what I was doing was not right. I remember during the shoot of a film I started feeling that I was being tortured. Because for the shoot of 9:30 in the morning, Hero was reaching at 6:30 in the evening.
“I didn’t want to wait from morning till evening for a shot. Then I decided I didn’t want to work anymore. It was not a difficult decision for me. We have to accept such situations in life. I was getting older and I had to happily accept that.”
The actress will work happily: The actress said that Amitabh Bachchan got opportunities in the second innings. They are lucky, they have God’s blessings. People make only those films in which Amitabh is in the lead role. We don’t get such opportunities. The actress said, “If I get such an opportunity, I would definitely like to work.”
