There are often reports of bad behavior with artists from the entertainment industry. There are many actors and actresses who have openly talked about the misbehavior with them on the sets. Recently, Nitanshi Goyal, the flower of Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapata Ladies’, talked about this and now another name has been added to this list. Sunita Rajwar, who played the character of Kranti Devi in ’Panchayat’, one of the popular and most successful series of Prime Video, has talked about the misbehavior with artists in the industry. According to Sunita Rajwar, an artist has to endure a lot in the entertainment industry. While lead actors are treated like kings, supporting artists have to beg for everything. They are not even given respect.
Most actors are typecast
Sunita Rajwar spoke openly about the treatment meted out to supporting actors in the industry in a conversation with Brut India from Cannes Film Festival 2024. Sunita had arrived here to represent her film ‘Santosh’. During this, Sunita said- ‘Most actors in the industry are typecast. Because, in such a situation it is easy for the makers to cast them in any film. Many times actors also accept it, they also have to feed themselves and they cannot show tantrums. That is why they accept it silently. It is painful, but true.’
There is discrimination between lead and supporting actors
Sunita further talked about the discrimination on the sets between lead and supporting actors. The actress said- ‘Lead actors are given all the facilities, on the other hand, supporting actors have to beg for everything. While lead actors are given call time as per their convenience and wish, it is not the same with supporting actors. Sometimes this discrimination with others makes them feel inferior. However, I know that lead actors have to work 30 days a month, sometimes 24 hours a day and they are at work seven days a week. But, this discrimination is bad.’
Trying to belittle others
On being called at any time during the shoot, Sunita said- ‘If you know in advance that you are not going to shoot with an artist right now, then call them later, what is the point of calling them in advance and making them sit for hours. This shows that you are trying to belittle others. Lead actors are pampered. Their rooms are also clean and they have fridge, microwave etc. On the other hand, artists like us are given a dirty room, 3-4 people are made to sit there. The roof is broken, the bathroom is not clean, the bedsheet is also dirty and there are no facilities of any kind, it feels bad to see all this.’
I had made up my mind to quit acting
Sunita Rajwar told that after seeing this discrimination among the actors, she had even decided to quit acting. She had even cancelled her CINTAA card. However, she later changed her decision. Sunita is going to be seen in ‘Panchayat 3’ once again. In this series, she is playing the role of Kranti Devi, who is the wife of Banarakas, the rival of Pradhan ji and Manju Devi. The new season of the series will stream on Prime Video from May 28.
