Actually Dharmendra had entered Bollywood through a talent hunt competition. After winning the acting competition, he was also signed by big producers like Guru Dutt, Vimal Roy for their films. But Dharmendra, who was desperate to act, got his first film ‘Dil Bhi Tera, Hum Bhi Tere’.
Arjun Hingorani, who directed this film, became a friend of Dharmendra. But the producer of this film had placed a condition in front of Dharmendra that he would get only 60 percent of his entire earnings for this film and he could not sign someone else’s film without permission. If still he does a film of any other producer, then he will have to give 50 percent of the earnings from that film to the producer. Dharmendra accepted this difficult condition without caring about the money and started shooting.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra was approached by director Ramesh Sehgal for his film, ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’. Dharmendra was happy to hear this offer, but here also he had to face the same condition. When Dharmendra told his friend Arjun Hingorani about this, he reminded Dharmendra of Bihari Masand’s condition and said ‘You are doing another film? Do you know the result of this?
