Dharmendra used to drink alcohol during the shooting: Actually this is from the year 1965, when Asha Parekh and Dharmendra were shooting for the film ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’ in Darjeeling. It was so cold that the director’s pack-up had to be spoken and liquor bottles used to be opened there. The film director, Dharmendra and other team members used to sit and drink alcohol throughout the night.
Asha Parekh was troubled by the smell of alcohol: Dharmendra used to drink so much that till morning the smell of alcohol could not go away from his mouth. Dharmendra used to eat onions whenever he had to shoot with Asha Parekh. The actress ignored the stench for a day or two. But on the third day I went straight to the director and said that I will not shoot the film. Asha ji told the director that Dharmendra’s mouth smells of onions and in such a situation I will not be able to shoot.
Dharmendra made a promise to Asha Parekh: When Dharmendra came to know about this, he told Asha Parekh ji that he shoots after eating onions to hide the smell of alcohol.
