There has been a political uproar after BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s alleged objectionable remarks on Prophet Mohammad. The party expelled him after fierce opposition from Islamic countries. Celebrities from cinema to politics are giving their opinion on this issue. Film actor Naseeruddin Shah has targeted PM Modi in this matter and said that PM should come forward and stop this poison from spreading.
In a conversation with NDTV, Naseeruddin Shah, referring to the ruckus over Nupur Sharma’s statement, said that she (Nupur Sharma) was not a ‘fringe element’, she was the national spokesperson of a party. Shah said that, ‘I want the PM to rein in all those people spreading hatred on Twitter, whom he himself follows. They have to do something seriously….
Ashok Pandit retaliated: On the other hand, filmmaker Ashok Pandit retaliated on this statement of Naseeruddin Shah and put him in the dock. Ashok Pandit tweeted, ‘Why was Naseeruddin Shah silent when the entire gang of Islamic fundamentalists was making fun of Hindu gods and goddesses? Did he still make such an appeal to the PM when MF Hussain had abused Hindu gods, made fun of him? This is called hypocrisy.
Users also jumped in the debate: On this tweet of Ashok Pandit, many users also started reacting. A user named Riya Sharma wrote, ‘Why give emotion to people with such double characters. Now they do not have any work left, will do something to stay in the limelight. Another user wrote, ‘They are clearly denying that no Muslim has ever commented on Hindu gods and goddesses… what a strategy.’ Ravi Shukla wrote, ‘Such people do not matter to us, but such statements reveal the real face.’
What is the whole controversy? In fact, BJP leader Nupur Sharma had allegedly made objectionable remarks on Prophet Mohammad in a TV debate. Later, when the matter caught fire, more than a dozen Islamic countries issued a statement. Indian goods were banned in many places. After the grit, BJP expelled Nupur Sharma from the party. On the other hand, a case has also been registered against Nupur in many places including Maharashtra.
