New Delhi: Actor Sathyaraj, who played Kattappa in the ‘Bahubali’ franchise, is a well-known star of South cinema and these days he is in the news for playing the role of PM Narendra Modi. Recently, the actor has reacted on his behalf to the news of playing the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a biopic. Recently, in an interview to a Tamil website Minnambalam, he dismissed the rumors and said that this is news for him too. The news of Sathyaraj playing PM Modi’s character in his biopic went viral on social media a few days ago.
On May 18, publicist Nikil Murukan had shared the news of Sathyaraj being a part of PM Modi’s biopic on his X page, on which Kattappa has now given his statement. Speaking to Minnambalam, Sathyaraj said, ‘The news that I am acting in Prime Minister Modi’s biopic is news for me too. But the truth is that till now no one has approached me to play the role of PM Modi in the film. People have spread random news on social media.
He further said, ‘Earlier there used to be news in newspapers that ‘Young woman was murdered… is it due to illicit relationship?’ Similarly, social media has become a hotbed of such stupid rumours.’ Sathyaraj is a self-proclaimed Periyarist and once said that he would not be a part of a film that propagates anti-Periyarism ideologies. Earlier, Vivek Oberoi played the role of PM Modi in a biopic directed by Omung Kumar and was well-liked in the role.
Talking about work, Sathyaraj is waiting for the release of his upcoming Tamil film ‘Weapon’. He plays the role of a supernatural being in the film, which also stars Vasanth Ravi and Rajeev Menon in important roles. ‘Weapon’ was to be released in theaters on 23rd May i.e. today but it has not released yet.
