Right now the outbreak of corona has not subsided, every day some or the other news comes about new variants. Talking about India, the corona epidemic may have reached the endemic stage, but by the way it has increased many other diseases behind it. If something has been affected the most during the Corona period, then it is immunity, due to this, heart and lung diseases have increased in people.
According to health experts, now the cases of tuberculosis (TB) have also started increasing due to corona. Lung TB is considered one of the most common infectious diseases. But TB can affect not only the lungs but also other parts of the body. TB that occurs in other organs is called extrapulmonary TB. However, extrapulmonary TB is not contagious. According to the WHO, about 20 to 30 percent of people suffer from this disease extra pulmonary TB. Apart from this, a form of extra-pulmonary TB is pelvic TB, which can cause infertility in women.
The most worrying thing is that since Corona, an increase of 20 to 30 percent has been registered in the number of TB patients. In this too, the youngest people are falling prey to TB. At the same time, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), 4100 people lose their lives every day due to TB worldwide. Every year 1.22 crore people suffer from it. This disease affects any part of the body.
Talking to Jansatta.com, Dr Bhagwan Mantri, Pulmonary Department of Moolchand Hospital, Delhi, said that since Corona, many such patients are coming to the hospitals who have been seriously suffering from TB but the age is very young. He also told that this disease is damaging other organs besides his lungs.
This disease is spreading rapidly among the youth
Doctor Bhagwan Mantri told in the conversation that earlier such cases of TB were very less in the youth, but for the last few months 15 to 20 patients have come among the youth in the age group of 22 to 30 years. The doctor says that despite having symptoms of cough or pneumonia, TB disease became serious in those treated as common cold. He says that some patients came who did not get treatment for cough and cold, then the patients came to the hospital; On testing that they are suffering from TB. According to the doctor, all of them were coughing for several weeks.
Cases increased due to weakening of immunity
Bhagwan said, “Since Corona, the immunity of people has decreased, due to which the lungs have also suffered a lot. Because of this people are easily falling prey to TB. In such a situation, it is important that people who have recently recovered from corona and they continue to cough, then they should get their lungs tested.
Lack of awareness among people about TB
Doctor Bhagwan Mantri said, “There is a lack of awareness among people about TB, due to lack of proper information about its symptoms, people start taking antibiotic tablets as normal flu, due to which many times the problems increase further. Huh. Now many patients came who had 30 to 40 percent damage to their lungs, some have less, that’s why they are negligent. He further told that if any person has a persistent cough for two weeks, then it can be a symptom of TB. Therefore, definitely see a good pulmonologist in your nearest hospital.
What are the symptoms of TB? ( symptoms of TB)
- Tiredness
- Fever
- cough for three or more weeks
- coughing up blood
- chest pain when coughing or breathing
- sudden weight loss
- chills
- sweating while sleeping
What is the treatment for TB?
Doctor Bhagwan Mantri said, “First of all we have to recognize its symptoms. Many times we examine the mucus to test for pneumonia, if it is not caught, then bronchoscopy has to be done. But the best way to avoid TB is to get the sputum tested in the nearest hospital for two consecutive weeks of cough and in the initial days after catching TB, the doctor gives some medicines, these medicines go into the body of the victim and eliminate the TB tissue. So that it does not spread to other parts of the body.
He further told that the TB bacteria enter the body and gradually go into the lungs. Due to the reduced immunity of the body, TB bacteria multiply rapidly and gradually reach the brain. After that the condition starts getting serious.
