Coronavirus remains the biggest headache for the country and the world. The changing nature of this virus has put the country and the world in trouble. After a few months of respite, the cases of COVID-19 have started rising again across the world. The new variant of Omicron virus Omicron BA.2 is causing havoc in China. Cases of this variant are increasing steadily in parts of Europe and Asia.
Looking at the situation, experts have started predicting the fourth wave of coronavirus in India. In view of the current situation, the Maharashtra government has issued an alert in the state and appealed to the people to follow the COVID-19 protocol.
What is the Omicron BA.2 variant? The BA.2 variant of Corona is the second sub-variant of Omicron which is also known as stealth variant. This variant is wreaking havoc in many countries. This variant of Corona originated in South Africa and was responsible for the third wave in India. It is difficult to locate this sub variant of Omicron. The spike protein of the BA.2 sub-variant of the corona does not have several key mutations, making it difficult to detect the virus even through RTPCR tests.
According to WHO, it is too early to form any opinion about the BA.2 variant of Omicron. This variant does not cause more severe symptoms than its parent strain BA.1. It is a matter of concern that BA.1 and BA.2 of Corona may be mixed and transformed into a new sub-variant, of which Israel has reported two cases. The Omicron sub variant is quite different from the Omicron variant. It is important to recognize the symptoms of the BA.2 variant in time so that the disease can be prevented.
