Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has suffered a major setback. Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jyot Napat has directed the Citizenship Commission to cancel Lalit Modi to cancel Vanuatu’s passport. Let us know that recently information was revealed that Lalit Modi has received citizenship of South Prashant Island Rashtra Vanuatu. However, now the PM here has ordered action against Lalit Modi.
What did the PM say in the order?
The order issued by the Prime Minister Jotm Napat said- “I have directed the Citizenship Commission to immediately start the proceedings to cancel Shri Modi’s Vanuatu passport”. The order further stated- “All standard background investigation, including interpol screening conducted during his application, did not prove any criminal defect. I have revealed in the last 24 hours that Interpol has rejected the requests of Indian officials to issue an alert notice on Lalit Modi due to lack of sufficient judicial evidence.
Keeping passport is privilege, not rights- PM
Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jitoth Napat said in his order- “Vanuatu passport is a privilege, not rights, and applicants should get citizenship for legitimate reasons. Any of these valid reasons does not include attempts to avoid extradition, which recently indicated the facts that Lalit Modi’s intention was this.”

Lalit Modi left India in 2010. It is since he is currently living in London. During his tenure of IPL, Lalit Modi was accused of embezzlement of crores of rupees. Since then, Lalit Modi is included in the desired list of Indian law enforcement agencies.
