The CBI organized a two -day workshop for Indian law enforcement agencies.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), along with Interpol, organized a two -day workshop on compliance with Interpol notice and Definity for Indian law enforcement agencies at its headquarters on 24 and 25 March 2025 at its headquarters in Delhi. The purpose of this workshop was to explain the color coded notice system of the Interpol and its review process, as well as the legal framework and compliance investigation mechanism of Interpol.

The program was attended by Experts of Interpol and Experts of Defusion Task Force and various central law enforcement agencies (CBI, NIA, ED, DRI, NCB, Delhi Police and WCCB). Apart from this, police officers of states and union territories and representatives of Mea and MHA also participated in the workshop. The workshop also organized a special session on the legal issues related to the notice of Interpol, in which Judges of Delhi Judicial Academy along with CBI public prosecutor, deputy legal advisors and additional legal advisors participated. More than 120 participants personally participated in this session and the same number of participants participated online.

The importance of Bharatpol portal was also outlined

The workshop also discussed how Indian law enforcement agencies can get international assistance from foreign countries through Interpol channel and what steps can be taken to make it more effective. In addition, how the references obtained from foreign countries by Indian agencies can also be considered. The importance of the recently launched Bharatpol portal was also underlined in this context. Law enforcement agencies were encouraged to use the Bharatpol portal, so that they could send their requests from NCB Delhi to get international police support from Interpol member countries.

Discussion on many case studies also

This two -day workshop highlights the importance of cooperation in international criminal cases through the Interpol notice system. Notices issued by Interpol at the request of member countries play an important role in detection and their extradition or exile worldwide. Before the publication of these notices, it is necessary to follow the legal structure of the Interpol. During the workshop, participants were informed about compliance investigation mechanisms and interpol notice and proper draft of defusion, as well as several case studies were also discussed.

CBI acts as NCB for Interpol in India

The CBI acts as the National Central Bureau (NCB) for Interpol in India and coordinates cooperation through Interpol channels with Indian law enforcement agencies. The CBI in the form of NCB coordinate through the Central Law Enforcement agencies, states and Union Territory of Interpol Lygjan Officers (ILOS) to facilitate international cooperation. ILOS works closely with the Unit Officers (UOS) representing the officials (UOS) representing the Superintendents of Police or Branch heads in their respective organizations.
