The Rouse Avenue Court has ordered Delhi Police to register an FIR against BJP leader Kapil Mishra. The court has given this directive when it said that “cognizable offense” has been found against Mishra and his involvement in the 2020 Delhi riots has been found.
The court has also ordered further investigation against the Delhi Law Minister due to his role in inciting violence in North East Delhi in 2020. The news agency ANI said, “The court said that his presence was in the area of Kardam Puri on the basis of the material kept by the Delhi Police and a cognizable offense has been found which should be investigated.”
The incident took place at a time when the court was hearing a petition in which the Delhi Police report was challenged that Mishra was being implicated under a big conspiracy.
Delhi Police further said that the BJP leader is being implicated in this case and he has no role in the 2020 riots. However, the court found that the material shared by the prosecutors suggests that Mishra was present in the respective area in 2020.
In the case of 2020 Delhi riots, Delhi Police has nominated several student leaders such as Omar Khalid, Gulfisha Fatima and Sharjil Imam as co-scriptures of riots. However, according to the findings of the 10-member fact-Khoji team, Delhi violence and riots were “planned and targeted,” and blamed Kapil Mishra for the incident.
According to the report released by the Delhi Minorities Commission, “Violence started in various areas soon after Mr. Kapil Mishra’s brief speech in Maujpur on February 23, 2020, in which he openly called for force to forcefully remove the protesters in Jafarabad, North East Delhi.”
