The Delhi High Court has directed Wipro Limited to give a compensation of two lakh rupees to the former employee who was dismissed by making derogatory remarks in the dismissal letter.
Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav on July 14 removed the controversial comments made on the professional character of the employee and directed the company to issue a new dismissal letter to him.
The court said that the dismissal letter has a derogatory language in the letter and has a direct and harmful effects on the future employment and professional honor of the plaintiff.
It said that from the tone of correspondence, it clearly reveals that under the guise of administrative formality, it was intended to “abuses” the character, which caused more damage to the prestige of the plaintiff. The former employee sought a compensation of two crore rupees from the company.
Wipro’s lawyer had argued that the plaintiff’s behavior reflects lack of interest in improving his professional performance, due to which he was fired.
