Dhami government will provide financial assistance of five lakhs for the families of the deceased, fully damaged houses

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed to provide financial assistance of five lakh rupees for the families of the deceased and the entire damaged houses in other disaster-hit places including Tharali and said that the treatment of the injured will also be arranged by the state government.

The Chief Minister gave these instructions during a review of relief and rescue operations operated after the disaster in Tharali in Chamoli district on Saturday night at the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).

During the overflowing on Friday night in Tharali, a 20 -year -old woman died in a large area due to the boom in the Tunary rainy drain, which died and another person went missing.

In the incident, Tharali Tehsil office, SDM house, several houses and shops were damaged while 150 people were taken to safe places.

After taking information about the work done throughout the day from the state’s disaster management secretary Vinod Kumar Suman and Chamoli District Magistrate Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, the Chief Minister said that the entire government is standing firmly with the people of Tharali in this hour of disaster and all relief and rescue teams have been instructed to work on a war footing. He said that he himself is constantly monitoring the rescue operations.

During this time, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of Rs five lakh each to those whose buildings have been completely damaged in the disaster in Tharali and other places. He also instructed the officials to provide financial assistance of five lakh rupees to the families of the deceased.

The Chief Minister said that proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured will be made by the state government.

He asked the officials to provide permissible assistance to the injured as soon as possible under disaster standards.

During this period, Dhami appreciated the ‘Quick Response’ of the administration under the leadership of the District Magistrate and said that due to this, rescue and relief work could be started immediately.

In order to reduce the loss of life and property from such disasters in the future, Dhami asked ‘dreging’ (sand, gravel, stone out of the river) or ‘channelization’ in all the rivers of the state who have settlements.

He said that wherever the water level of rivers has been affected due to the lack of ‘dredging’, ‘dragging’ should be done under disaster standards. The Chief Minister asked all the districts to submit the report as soon as possible for this.

The Chief Minister also asked for adequate food, refreshments, milk for children, milk, medicines, adequate beds and toilets etc. for those who were held in relief camps.

Dharali, Tharali and Sainaachatti, the Chief Minister said that it is necessary to find out how much of debris and large stones coming with water in all three places.

For this, he instructed to study a high -level team of scientists from research institutes like Wadia Himalayan Institute of Greek Sciences (IIRS), Indian Institute of Fundamental Institute (IIT), National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) by forming a high -level team of scientists.

He said that he would also request the central government to conduct such a study in all the Himalayan states so that their causes can be understood and the disasters in future can be dealt with effectively.
