New Delhi. The country’s second largest ICICI Bank in the private sector has increased the limit of minimum balance in its savings bank account since August 1. ICICI Bank has made a new rule for minimum balance. If you live in cities or metro city, then ICICI Bank’s savings account will now have to be kept at Rs 50000. Earlier this limit was 10000 rupees. Apart from this, the minimum balance has been increased to Rs 25000 in the savings account of ICICI Bank in the towns and Rs 10,000 in rural areas.

ICICI Bank’s savings account will have penalty if there is not such a minimum balance. ICICI Bank will take 6 % or 500 rupees (whichever) from those who do not have average minimum balance. With this, ICICI Bank has become the most minimum balance bank. ICICI Bank had earlier cut the interest rate by 0.25 per cent on a savings account in April 2025. Private sector country’s largest HDFC bank has a rule to keep a minimum balance in the savings account of metro and urban branches. Whereas, the minimum balance in HDFC bank accounts of the towns is 5000 and 2500 rupees in rural areas.

Another private sector Axis Bank has to keep minimum balance for the accounts of metro and urban areas, 12000, 5000 for towns and Rs 2500 in branches of rural areas. The largest public sector State Bank of India (SBI) ended the minimum balance on a savings account in the year 2020. Whereas, other banks have to keep a minimum balance from 2000 to 10000 rupees in the savings account of other banks.
