A big gift has been found on this Onam for the UAE and Kerala’s diaspora living around the world. The Kerala government’s non-resident Carlites Affairs Department (Norka) has launched a health insurance scheme called ‘Norka Care’, under which only ₹ 7,800 (about DH328) annual premium will be found to diarrhea Indians up to ₹ 5 lakh (about DH21,000).

Under this scheme, cashless treatment facility will be available in more than 14,000 hospitals across India, of which more than 400 hospitals are in Kerala only. This scheme will be available to all Kerala migrants from 18 to 70 years and pre-existing conditions will also be covered without any waiting period. Not only this, it also includes a personal accident insurance of ₹ 5 lakh and a re-patrol cover of up to ₹ 50,000.

The scheme will be launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Thiruvananthapuram on 22 September. Migrant Malayali will be able to enroll in one month window (from 22 September to 22 October). For this, first migrants will have to make Norka Pravasi/NRK ID card, which will be valid for three years. The official policy document of the scheme will be released on 1 November.

The scheme is also economical for the family – a premium for a couple and two children (up to 25 years) has been fixed ₹ 13,200, while each additional child will have to pay only ₹ 4,000. To implement the scheme, New India Assurance will provide insurance cover and every enrollment person will get an e-card, on the basis of which cashless treatment can be started in hospitals immediately.

The high -level team of Norka Roots is currently on a UAE tour to promote the scheme and along with Indian organizations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other Emirates, is trying to add maximum number of migrants. Also, a dedicated mobile app for the facility of enrollment and payment will also be started from September 22, in which Indian and International Debit/Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard) can be paid.
