Srinagar. National Conference government is going to be formed in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Omar Abdullah. The National Conference had contested the elections in alliance with the Congress. Omar Abdullah’s National Conference won 42 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. National Conference’s ally Congress won 6 seats. At the same time, 4 independent MLAs have also decided to support the National Conference government. One MLA from Aam Aadmi Party will also support the National Conference government. Thus, there are 53 MLAs in favor of the National Conference government. The number of members of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is 90. Apart from this, there will also be 5 nominated MLAs. In such a situation, the majority figure is 48 seats and for this reason the sword will always be hanging over the head of Omar Abdullah’s National Conference government.

If even 6 MLAs ever withdraw their support and Omar Abdullah is not able to gather at least that many MLAs from other parties, then his government will collapse immediately. If we look at the condition of other parties in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, BJP has 29 MLAs. There are 3 PDP, 1 CPM, 1 Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference, 1 Aam Aadmi Party and 7 independent MLAs. In such a situation, it is not going to be very favorable for the National Conference government to have a confrontation with the Center or Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Perhaps this is the reason why Omar Abdullah has also been seen talking about maintaining cooperation with the Center and the Lieutenant Governor.

Omar Abdullah has perhaps also understood that the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has achieved nothing but loss by adopting the path of confrontation with the Modi government at the Centre. Its hallmark was also visible in the statements of Omar Abdullah. After the election campaign and then achieving a big victory, Omar Abdullah has also given similar indications about the policy of the National Conference. Omar Abdullah had said that PM Narendra Modi is respectable. While campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi promised to restore statehood and Honorable Home Minister Amit Shah also said the same. Omar Abdullah also said that he would try to ensure that the National Conference government maintains good relations with the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre. He said that restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir is the priority of the new government and for this his government will work with the Centre. Omar Abdullah also said that we need to work in coordination with the central government. Omar Abdullah, who is going to become the CM of the National Conference government, said that the issues of Jammu and Kashmir will not be resolved by fighting with the Central Government.
