Railways announced the names of members of the committee constituted to investigate the stampede at New Delhi station

Railways on Sunday announced the names of two members of the committee constituted to investigate the stampede at New Delhi railway station. It said that Northern Railway Principal Chief Commercial Manager Narsingh Dev and Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Northern Railway Pankaj Gangwar are members of the committee.

The committee has started investigation and ordered to gather all the video footage of New Delhi railway station.

The Railways on Saturday ordered an inquiry after the death of 18 people in the stampede. Crowds of passengers gathered at platform number 14 and 15 of the station waiting for the train to go to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway Himanshu Upadhyay said that Magadh Express to Patna at the time of the incident was standing at the platform number 14 and New Delhi-Jammu North Sampark Kranti Express platform number 15.

Explaining the reason for the stampede, he said, “Some people were descending from the footover bridge to platform number 14 and 15 using the stairs, they slipped and fell on others.” Sources said that the departure of the trains was delayed. And due to the sale of 1,500 general (general) tickets every hour, there was chaos at New Delhi railway station.
