Tejashwi Surya and Shivshree Skandprasad tied the knot on Thursday
Tejashwi Surya, Lok Sabha MP from Bangalore South seat and National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Karnataka classical music singer Shivashree Skandprasad tied the knot on Thursday. The marriage was concluded in a traditional way amidst Vedic chanting. The party’s state unit president BY Vijayendra, Union Ministers V Somanna and Arjunram Meghwal, along with top BJP leaders as well as several party MPs and MLAs attended the function. Top leaders also blessed Tejashwi and Shivashree.
Shivashree has received the degree of graduation in bio-engineering and post graduation from Chennai Sanskrit College. He is also a Bharatanatyam dancer. Recently, 34 -year -old MP Tejashwi and Shivshree were seen taking his blessings in the ashram of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Tejashwi Surya, 34, later posted on ‘X’, “With the blessings of gurus, elders and well -wishers, we today married Shivashree according to Vedic traditions. We want your blessings and best wishes to start this journey together. ”
Video post before reception
He has also posted a video in Kannada with a request message in which he urged the guests coming to the reception as a gift to bring flowers, bouquets or dry fruits as a gift. He said that 85 percent of the wedding flowers and bouquets are thrown within 24 hours of the program and 300,000 kg dried nuts are saved every year in weddings. The BJP MP said, “The possible donation price of such bouquets and dried fruits is Rs 315 crore annually.” He requested the guests not to bring flowers, garlands or dry fruits to the ceremony.
‘Fule bouquets are not national waste’
At the same time, the South India Pushpakshi Sangh has urged BJP MP Tejashwi Surya to withdraw its recent statement that calls flower bouquets as “national waste”. Surya, inviting the public for her wedding ceremony on March 10, had called it a “national ruin”, requesting people to abstain flower bouquets in Facebook and YouTube live sessions.
Flower cultivation in 38 thousand hectares in Karnataka
TM Arvind, president of South India Pushpakrishi Sangh, said that such comments from a responsible leader are ‘unfair’ and “weakens the hard work of millions of farmers who are dependent on the cultivation of flowers for their livelihood.” According to Arvind, flowers are cultivated in 38,000 hectares in Karnataka, of which more than 1,500 hectares are cultivated in more than 1,500 hectares. He said, “This area directly and indirectly provides employment to 11 lakh people, while more than 52 lakh people are benefited from the cultivation of flowers on 2.8 lakh acres.”
Arvind underlined that BJP MP from Chikkaballapura K.K. Sudhakar recently said in Parliament that flowers are cultivated on 25,000 acres of land in Chikkaballapura area and had proposed to establish a Pushpakrishi Board to support the industry.
