'Thank Tamil Nadu for standing with me': Kamal Haasan amid Tamil-Kannada language dispute

Top actor Kamal Haasan shared the stage with stars of ‘Thug Life’ including Silambasana in Chennai on Wednesday, but did not comment on the controversy arising out of the Kannada language Tamil language to be born from his statement.

In his address, Haasan discussed the hard work of the film Crew and the international quality of technicians, who played an important role in the production of the ‘Thug Life’ released on 5 June.

He said, “I should thank the entire Tamil Nadu state who stood behind me.”

His comment is important in view of the controversy arising after his comment on the development of Kannada language.

The actor said that he also knows the full meaning of the slogans “Ure, Urave, Tamiz” used in his public speeches. Using all three words together reveals their deep love for the Tamil language and their deep engagement with him.

Incidentally, Haasan also used this tagline in the promotional program of thug life in Chennai, where he commented on the development of Kannada language.

The top star praised the legendary film director Mani Ratnam, saying that he has turned into a “cinema knowledgeable” and is excited to work with him.

Apart from this, things related to thug life can also be done later and as a Tamilian it is his duty to take time out for it. On this occasion, the top star also thanked the media.

This is Hassan’s first public appearance after the Karnataka High Court criticized his Kannada language on 3 June for his commentary remarks.

The makers of ‘Thug Life’ informed the Karnataka High Court that the film would not be released in Karnataka on 5 June, while it would be released across the country.

Justice M. Nagprasanna said that “one -time waiver could have resolved the situation”, “The freedom of expression could not be expanded to the extent of hurting someone’s feeling, especially a genocide … The words spoken cannot be withdrawn, and only apologies can be sought for them … You cannot open the fried eggs.”
