The death toll in Palghar building accident increased to 14, NDRF rescued 2 people

The death toll has increased to 14 due to falling a part of a building in Virar area of ​​Palghar district. Officials confirmed this on Thursday. Two people were rescued and one was injured during the rescue operation conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed two teams from its 5th Battalion to the spot.

Officials said on Wednesday that a part of the Ramabai apartment in Virar East of Palghar district collapsed late on Tuesday, killing two people and injured several others.

The NDRF said in a statement, “14 people died when the back of the four -storey Ramabai apartment building located between Chamunda Nagar and Vijay Nagar on the orange road of Vasai died yesterday.”

In search of initial human and dogs, four people were taken out; One was declared dead on the spot, and three were rescued alive. Unfortunately, a one -year -old child died on his way to the hospital.

According to NDRF Deputy Commander Pramod Singh, “Two NDRF teams arrived at the accident site – one from Mumbai and one from Palghar. As soon as the information was received at 12 o’clock at night, the nearest team immediately reacted.”

Emergency services including NDRF teams as well as fire department and local police are actively employed. Authorities have installed barricades to control the crowd and are assessing the structural integrity of nearby buildings.

As a precaution, many residents living in nearby buildings have been temporarily expelled.

The incident took place around 12 o’clock at night, when the back of the building fell on a nearby chawl, causing many residents under the rubble. The rescued people are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Virar and Nalasopara, some of which are in critical condition. Officials continue to search to ensure that no one is trapped and they are further investigating the reasons for the collapse.
