New Delhi. After the defeat in Maharashtra legislative elections, Mahavikas Aghadi alliance is now blaming EVMs. After Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is also making a strategy to oppose EVMs in UBT. In the recently held Shiv Sena UBT meeting, the defeated candidates of the party had expressed suspicion of EVM tampering. After this, now party chief Uddhav Thackeray has asked his candidates to file a petition in the court demanding recounting through VVPAT. Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had announced to run a campaign against EVMs and demanding elections through ballot paper.
Shiv Sena UBT President Uddhav Thackeray said that the candidates of polling stations where there is suspicion of scam through EVMs should file a petition in the court demanding re-counting of 5 percent VVPATs. In this regard, a final meeting of Uddhav Thackeray’s own party leaders is to be held today. Let us tell you that Uddhav Thackeray, who was dreaming of the post of CM of Maharashtra, has suffered a big setback in the elections. Uddhav had fielded his candidates on 95 seats in Maharashtra, out of which the party candidates could win only 20 seats.
At the same time, apart from Shiv Sena and UBT, Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SCP, included in the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, also suffered a crushing defeat. Congress had fielded candidates on 101 seats, out of which it won only 16 seats, while Sharad Pawar had fielded his party’s candidates on 86 seats, but his party could win only 10 seats. BJP, included in its grand alliance, has won 132 seats, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has won 57 seats and Ajit Pawar faction’s NCP has won 41 seats.
