The Finance Ministry has issued a press release on Monday. The central government has stated in this press release that now employees can select Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) by 30 September 2025 instead of 30 June 2025. The Finance Ministry has stated in a press release that the stakeholders had demanded to extend the deadline from NPS to apply for transfer to UPS. Now UPS eligible employees, retired central employees and married partners of late central employees can opt for UPS by 30 September 2025. To get full pension under UPS, the service duration of employees should be at least 25 years. At the same time, if an employee worked for only 10 years or more, then there is a system of giving at least 10 thousand rupees to him.

Employees of the central government who will choose UPS will get a pension of 50 percent guaranteed salary of the last 12 months of service. Apart from this, whatever dearness allowance will be declared from time to time, the employees will also get the benefit of the employees under UPS. However, employees choosing UPS will not get concession in any other policy, change in policy and any other financial benefits. The NPS contains 10 percent of the central government employee and 14 percent of the central government. In UPS, the central government will contribute 18.5 percent to the basic salary of the employee. 23 lakh central government employees will be able to benefit from this. To shift to UPS, the employees coming to the central government job on or after 1 April 2025 will have to fill Form A-1.
