The year of Lok Sabha elections 2024 is going on. Meanwhile, 121 candidates contesting the elections have declared themselves illiterate. Also, 359 candidates have said that they have studied only till 5th class. This information has come to the fore on the basis of the report shared by the Association for Democratic Reforms i.e. ADR. 647 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections 2024 said that they have passed up to 8th class. At the same time, there are 1,303 candidates who are 12th pass. Also, 1502 candidates have studied up to graduation. At the same time, there are 198 candidates who have done doctorate studies. ADR has analyzed the educational qualification of 8,337 out of 8,360 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
How many candidates are educated and how many are illiterate
In the first phase of the election, 639 candidates declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th class, while 836 candidates had studied at graduation level or above. Additionally, 36 candidates declared themselves as just literate, 26 as illiterate and four did not disclose their educational qualification. During the second phase, 533 candidates declared their education level to be between 5th and 12th class, while 574 candidates reported graduation or higher education. While 37 candidates described themselves as just literate, eight as illiterate and three did not disclose their educational qualification.
In which stages how many candidates are illiterate
Let us tell you that in the third phase, 639 candidates declared their educational qualification between 5th and 12th class, while 591 candidates described themselves as graduate or higher educated. Additionally, 56 are just literate and 19 are illiterate. Three candidates did not disclose their educational qualification. For the fourth phase, 644 candidates declared their education level between 5th and 12th class, while 944 described graduation or higher. Thirty candidates described themselves as just literate and 26 as illiterate. In the fifth phase, 293 candidates described their educational qualification between 5th and 12th class, while 349 described themselves as having a graduation or higher degree. About 20 candidates are just literate and five are illiterate.
Many candidates did not provide information
Two candidates did not disclose their educational qualification. In the sixth phase, 332 candidates declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th class while 487 declared themselves as graduates or higher educated. 22 are diploma holders, 12 candidates are just literate and 13 are illiterate. In the seventh phase, 402 candidates declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th class while 430 declared themselves as graduates or higher educated. 20 are diploma holders, 26 candidates are literate and 24 are illiterate. Two candidates did not disclose their educational qualification. The elections are being held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Five phases have been completed while the sixth and seventh phases are scheduled for May 25 and June 1 respectively.
