The 15th round of military commander-level talks between India and China to end the tension in Ladakh began on Friday. Military commanders of both the countries are meeting in the Indian territory of Chushul Moldo near the LAC.
The standoff continues in Ladakh for the last 22 months. 50 to 60 thousand armies of both the countries are stationed in the area. The latest round of high-level military talks between India and China is taking place after about two months. Earlier talks did not yield any major result. There are differences between the two countries regarding some areas of Eastern Ladakh. The 15th round of talks began at 10 am on Friday in Chushul Moldo.
Sources related to the conversation said that the main topic of discussion would be to complete the stalled process of withdrawal of the army from Hot Springs Point (Patrolling Point-15). The Indian delegation involved in the talks is led by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, the newly appointed Commander of the 14th Corps of the Army based in Leh. It is expected that the Indian side will insist on the withdrawal of troops from all the tense areas including Depsang Bulge and Demchok areas.
Earlier on January 12, the 14th round of talks was held. In this, no significant consensus was reached regarding the withdrawal of the army from the remaining areas.
