18 districts with high risk of encephalitis will be monitored, CM Yogi has given orders in view of the seriousness

New Delhi. Uttar Pradesh has put up a strong fight against this disease to reduce the number of patients due to Japanese Encephalitis. In the year 2017, the state government formed an inter-departmental committee and all the departments worked together. The successful result of these efforts is that there has been a 95 percent reduction in encephalitis deaths. The disease, which has wreaked havoc for the last four decades, has been controlled by the state government in five years. Now the state government is working fast on its eradication.

CM held high level meeting

In the high-level meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials to promote public participation along with government efforts. Japanese Encephalitis was effective in 38 districts of Basti-Gorakhpur division of the state, out of which 18 districts are high risk, where the state government has ordered continuous monitoring. Although in the last five years, a decline of 95 percent has been registered on the untimely death due to JE, despite this, the CM has issued instructions to be constantly vigilant and careful. These districts have encephalitis care centres, Piku beds, medical personnel at the block level. For the successful operation of Pediatric ICU, the number of doctors, paramedical staff, staff nurses and technicians in AES and JE laboratories should be sufficient in the districts and instructions have been given to ensure the arrangement of their training.

Towards the end of diseases like malaria and Kala-azar in the state.

The result of the success of special campaigns being run for eradication of diseases in UP is that less than one person per 1,000 population in the state was found to be suffering from malaria, while Kala-azar disease is one in every 10,000 population in 22 identified blocks. Infection was confirmed in less than one person. This is a big achievement of the state government. UP will soon become Kala-azar free and is very close to its goal of effectively controlling malaria.
