The police had received information that a Bolero vehicle without a number plate was coming towards Mainpuri. In which there were four smugglers. They have illegal weapons. On this the police laid siege. Tried to stop the said car when it arrived. Seeing the police, the smugglers started trying to turn the car back. Failing that, the smugglers sitting in the car opened fire. The police caught the smugglers while protecting themselves.
During the interrogation of the police, the smugglers revealed their names as Raj Bahadur alias Raju, Jitendra alias Jeetu, Dinesh alias DS and Rajkumar alias Raju. Raj Bahadur is a resident of Agra. The remaining three smugglers are residents of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh. Police is investigating their criminal history.
According to SP Ashok Kumar Rai, during interrogation, the smugglers told that this pistol was to be supplied to gangsters to influence the assembly elections in Purvanchal. The accused buy this pistol from Munger in Bihar and Khandwa districts of Madhya Pradesh for Rs 10000 to 15000. 30000 to 40000 per pistol.
The smugglers have confessed to selling illegal weapons to gangsters in Agra, Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Haryana and Lucknow. These smugglers used to supply illegal weapons to Nepal. In the past too, this gang, including 26 illegal weapons, was caught and sent to jail by the Special Cell of Delhi.
