After this, when the West Indies team came out to bat, everyone felt that the West Indies team would easily chase this target, because the West Indies team included players like Clive Lloyd, Vivian Richards and Gordon Greenidge, who were known for tearing apart the bowlers of the opposing team.

Mohinder Amarnath was given the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance in the final match.
