Rising prices of petrol and diesel have brought strength on the forehead of new car buyers. Most of the customers are now turning to other fuel options instead of conventional fuel. While giant players like Maruti Suzuki have eliminated diesel vehicles from their vehicle portfolio, the company is now focusing on CNG cars. Meanwhile, there has been a tremendous increase in the sales of CNG cars in the country. Sales of CNG cars have reached an all-time high of 7.3% in 2021 last year.
It is important to note here that till last year, only two companies Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai used to sell CNG cars in the passenger car segment in the Indian market. At the same time, this year Tata Motors has also entered the CNG race with its Tiago and Tigor, which has given more options to the customers as the competition increases. Maruti Suzuki’s sales have been handled by CNG cars and they are no less than diesel. So let’s know about those CNG cars which are most liked by the customers.
1)- Maruti Wagon R CNG:
Maruti Suzuki’s tall boy WagonR has become the best selling CNG car in the country. The company had sold a total of 1,83,850 units of this car last year, out of which a total of 78,122 units are included in the CNG variant alone. The company has used a petrol engine of 1 liter capacity in this car, which comes with the company fitted CNG kit. This engine generates power of 59PS and torque of 78Nm. In general, this car gives a mileage of up to 32 kilometers per kilogram. The price of its CNG variant is between Rs 6.13 to Rs 6.19 lakh.
2)- Maruti Ertiga CNG:
The seven-seater car is the only MPV model in the country to come with a fitted CNG kit. The company had sold a total of 1,14,408 units of this car last year, which includes 51,076 units of the CNG model only. In this way, it is the second largest selling CNG car in the country. The company has used a 1.5-litre petrol engine in this car, which is equipped with a CNG kit, although the mild hybrid system is not given in this variant. The company claims that its CNG variant gives mileage of up to 26.08 km/kg. Its price is Rs 9.87 lakh.
3)- Maruti Eeco CNG:
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes in two different seating layouts, with the option of 5 seats and 7 seats. The company had sold a total of 1,14,524 units of this car, which includes 25,878 units of the CNG variant. In this way, it is the third largest selling CNG car in the country. In this car, the company has used a 1.2 liter capacity petrol engine which comes with the company fitted CNG kit. The company claims that this car gives a mileage of up to 20.88 km/kg. Its price is Rs 5.88 lakh.
