Won gold for the first time in triple jump
Till date, India had never won a medal in the triple jump at the Commonwealth Games. But this time Lal Aldhos Paul of India proved his mettle by getting the gold medal in this format of the game. While Paul won the gold in the triple jump, on the other hand, Abdullah Abubakar won the silver medal for the country by making his place at number two. This achievement was not a common one, but a special achievement.
Achanta Sharath Kamal became the real hero of the country
This time India’s veteran table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal left no stone unturned to make the Commonwealth Games memorable for India. He once again proved the fact that age is just a figure with his strong game. If there is a desire to do something, then age cannot be an excuse for any person. Performing the exact same line, Achanta Sharat Kamal, at the age of 40, did the feat that the country was waiting for for the last 16 years. Sharath Kamal created history by winning the gold medal in the men’s singles match of table tennis at the Commonwealth Games. This gold also became special because a decade and a half ago, in the same sport, it was Anchta who got the country a gold medal. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Anchta won the gold medal by defeating William Heinzel of Australia during the final match. After this, once again this player got the country gold.
Apart from this, players like young weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Nikhat Zareen, PV Sindhu, Amit Panghal and 20-year-old young badminton star Lakshya Sen have put medals in the country’s account. Added four moons to the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
